Super sculpey firm over a wire/mesh armature, 11" tall, finished with apoxie clay, waxed twine, acrylic paint and gloss varnish.

I was too chicken to paint this, and so, for about two years, it's just been gathering dust on a shelf. A couple months ago, I broke out my supply of apoxie clay and added some extra details to the original piece, and that in turn pushed me to finally finish him. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.

I may do some additional work in the future to make the base he's standing on more interesting, but for now, he's done!

This sculpture was inspired by Watership Down, but I took the author's idea a bit further, and made him a bit more sinister and more odd than the Black Rabbit is in the novel.

[T]he Black Rabbit of Inlé is fear and everlasting darkness . . . he is that cold, bad dream from which we can only entreat Lord Frith to save us today and tomorrow. When the snare is set in the gap, the Black Rabbit knows where the peg is driven; and when the weasel dances, the Black Rabbit is not far off . . . [The Black Rabbit] will come in the night and call a rabbit by name: and then that rabbit must go out to him. . . Some say that the Black Rabbit hates us and wants our destruction. But the truth is . . . that he, too, serves Lord Frith and does no more than his appointed task--to bring about what must be. We come into the world and we have to go [out of it] . . . We go by the will of the Black Rabbit of Inlé and only by his will.

Black Rabbit, Painted by ~rgyoung777 is a wonderful and very sinister take on the Black rabbit from watership down. The lean yet muscular physic adds to the sinister feel behind the character, along with the rabbit skull necklace, while the hollow empty looking eyes eliminate any notion of pity or feeling. You fear what you do not understand
Therefore you know nothing of what real fear is

This is a beautiful interpretation of a wonderful character from an incredible novel.

The balance is amazing, and makes sense from every angle. The pose is extremely intriguing, and the craft and concept are both brilliant.
